Throughout the past couple of months, singer-songwriter, Gracie Abrams, has been teasing her sophomore album which would be announced and released later this year. On April 39, 2024, Abrams finally announced the new album, The Secret Of Us, which will be out on June 21, revealing the cover art and the lead single, “Risk” and the music video for the song coming out on May 1. Abrams performed a solo, acoustic-rendition of “Risk” on her Good Riddance Tour last year.

As a long-term fan of Abrams, I couldn’t be more excited to hear her sophomore album. Throughout this article I will be spilling everything I know so far about The Secret Of Us!
I have already discussed the release date (June 21, 2024), the lead single (and only single so far), “Risk”, as well as the cover art, included in Abrams post above.
The tracklist along with the back cover art was revealed on May 13. After various days of fan accounts revealing singular track titles sent to them in yellow envelopes. Along with the tracklist came many more surprises! Abrams revealed another song she played this past year at the Good Riddance Tour would be included on the album, “I Knew it, I Know You”. Additionally, track five, titled “Us” will feature Taylor Swift, who has gone from one of Abrams idols to best friends since they began touring together on the Eras Tour last year. However, the most exciting thing about the tracklist for long-term fans of Abrams is that it includes a song titled “Close To You”. A snippet of “Close To You” was leaked several years ago and Abrams fans have been asking for the full song ever since, even talking to her directly at concerts and elsewhere.

Since announcing the album, Abrams has leaked snippets of various songs on her social media profiles, including, “Normal Thing”, “Close To You”, and “I Love You, I’m Sorry” (could this song be linked to the hit from the singer’s first EP, Minor, “I Miss You, I’m Sorry”)? Additionally, Abrams also posted a video of an unknown song, which could be off of the new album…only time will tell!
So far, Abrams has released two variants of The Secret Of Us on vinyl; one yellow and one purple. She also dropped signed copies of both variants, which of course sold very quickly (I somehow managed to score one, which I am very grateful for)! On May 9, Abrams also released a green coloured 7″ featuring “Risk” and “Close To You”, in addition to some other merchandise including apparel and a tote bag.

The Secret Of Us seems to have been written and produced with Abrams friend and usual partner, Aaron Dessner, at Long Pond Studios and possibly Electric Lady Studios as well since they have been teasing this new album! Abrams has shared on multiple occasions that she’s felt happier writing The Secret Of US, even stating that she was laughing in the studio while making it!
That is all the secrets (not so secret anymore) about Abrams upcoming album, The Secret Of Us, spilled (for now). I am very excited for the new album and to learn more about this new era! I’m hoping for a tour announcement including some Canadian dates in more places than just Vancouver and Toronto (like maybe Calgary and Edmonton…please).
